The inspiration for this design was drawn from the natural elements found in wineries. Wood and stone, materials of a more closed character, cover both the external and internal walls, while leather furniture adds to the cozy and intimate ambiance. This setting, ideal for sharing good stories and great wines, is a unique interpretation of the winery experience.
What sets this design apart is its focus on the sensory experience of wine tasting. The house, measuring 9.7m x 4.5m with an external deck of 3m x 5.7m, is air-conditioned and automated. Through an app, visitors can select the country of origin of the wine they wish to taste, and a LED light illuminates all labels from that region. This innovative feature enhances the interaction between the visitor and the wine collection.
The interior of the house is equally impressive. An eight-seater round table caters to wine tasting brotherhoods, while a gourmet countertop aids in the preparation of dishes and cleaning of glasses. A shelf displays various cups and rare labels, serving as a memory of past tastings. For those who prefer to toast outdoors, the deck offers comfort with a bench that surrounds the house and a wooden table.
The design process involved overcoming several challenges, including the creation of a single, thick pipe that could support two bottles without them bumping into each other. This required the development of several prototypes to achieve a delicate yet resistant design that could support nearly 400 bottles. The lights that delineate the wine cellar further enhance this feature.
The Sensory Aesthetic wine tasting house was awarded Silver in the A' Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design Award in 2021. This prestigious award recognizes top-of-the-line, creative, and professionally remarkable designs that demonstrate outstanding expertise and innovation. Silvia Carvalho's design, admired for its strong technical characteristics and splendid artistic skill, certainly fits this description.
